As 2014 draws to a close, let us be thankful for all that’s good.

We’ve had rain and shine, but it takes both to make a rainbow.

GST in Malaysia

Malaysia GST start on April 1, 2015

GSTSlider1

Malaysia Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a multi-stage tax on domestic consumption. GST will be applicable for all taxable supplies of goods and services in Malaysia except those specifically exempted. GST will also be charged on import of goods and services into Malaysia.

GST is applicable to the entire supply chain in the economy including manufacturing, distribution and retail industries. Almost all supplies in the manufacturing sector will be subjected to GST, including sale of finished goods, stocks, capital assets and services rendered to other establishments

Payment of tax will be made in stages by the intermediaries in the production and distribution process. Although the tax will be paid throughout the production and distribution chain, only the “value added” to the product or service at each stage is taxed, thus avoiding double taxation.

African kids to sing at state open house The Star Online

FORT Cornwallis is set to sizzle when the Penang Christmas Open House is held there on Sunday.

Some 10,000 people are expected to flock there to revel in the Christmas celebrations which will be held from 7 pm to 10 pm.

Air Itam assemblyman Wong Hon Wai said an added attraction at this year’s open house celebration would be the Watoto Children Choir from Uganda.

“Thirty members from the choir group will be performing during the celebration,” said Wong said at a press conference at Fort Cornwallis.

The choir group performed at the Christmas Open House in Selangor last year.

The open house here will feature a variety of local delicacies including Penang’s hawker fare.

Wong said the event, would not be for only Christians, but for all to celebrate the festival in the true spirit of Malaysia.

It is jointly organised by the state government and the Christian Federation Malaysia, Penang.
