Tuan Pegawai Daerah Barat Daya,

Greetings from the Taman Sri Nibong Residents’ Association. ( TSNRA ) We just had our AGM this month and a new committee has been elected. We hope to continue working with Balik Pulau District Office for the good of the community.

This new term, we have started our own TSNRA Blog. Our aim is to better reach out to the community. We hope to make this an interesting and inspiring blog, practical to both young and old. Adults can get vital info for their careers and daily lives while students can gain important knowledge and read good articles or magazines to improve their English. We also wish to promote goodwill and understanding to all who visit. This blog should benefit everyone everywhere, not just those staying in our area.

Our blog link is :

Thank you for all you have done for us in the past years. We look forward to your visits to Tmn Sri Nibong and we will drop in at your office to pay a courtesy call.

Our heartiest congratulations to Tuan Haji Jusni bin Haji Ismail, our new District Officer of Barat Daya. Indeed I am very proud and happy that one of my former students of Penang Free School has distinguished himself in one of the top posts in the civil service in Penang.  We are very confident that he will excel himself in his service to the community especially in his District. We are blessed to have him in our midst and we shall progress further inspired by his leadership.  He is now my “sifu” and we are looking forward to meeting him one fine day.  Kudos Tuan Haji and may God bless you abundantly!

subject     Promoting Unity and Harmony in Penang / TSNRA BLOG

mailed-by gmail.com

Jun 15 (1 day ago)

To our most honourable YAB Chief Minister,

all our honourable YB Exco Members

and the State Secretary of Penang,

The President and new Committee of the Taman Sri Nibong Residents’ Association would like to commend our State Government for their CAT policies. We are indeed happy to see that you have worked so hard especially to improve the living standards of the hardcore poor in our state and also make Penang a promising state for foreign investment and one of the top tourist destinations in the world.

We, as a Residents’ Association, would like to put forward our suggestions to further promote unity and harmony in the state. We are only a small association but we are quite an active one.To see what we have been doing so far, please visit our Blog. We hope to provide adults with all the important info and inspirations they need in their daily lives and careers. Also, we want to help young people to increase in their General Knowledge and improve their standard of English as this will equip them for a more successful future.

Our link is :

https://tsnra.wordpress.com/

There are Residents’ Associations, Rukun Tetanggas and JKKKs  all over Penang in nearly all housing areas and kampungs. However, each one is left on its own to care for its area. Some are functioning while others are not. It has always been our president’s dream to see the realization all these bodies united under one Penang State Unity Council. If this is not practical, then may we suggest uniting each group under its own umbrella eg Council of RTs, RAs and JKKKs ?

By uniting them, it would be much easier for the State Government to liaise with them in the promotion of a Caring Society. There could be regular ‘Brainstorming Meetings’ to pool together ideas and resources for community welfare. Without an unifying central council, we do not know how to co-operate with the others for the betterment of the larger community. We do not even know how to contact them as we are not aware of the existence of such a Directory. In the past, those without resources and manpower often just fade into oblivion. However, with support at State level, they could be revived to play an active role once more.

We feel that both National and State Unity is of utmost importance in our country. We have a number of articles on this topic in our blog. The people must unite for a common good as Malaysians so that our state and country will further progress at all possible levels and achieve international status. This may not be accomplished in the short term – unity is not a fast food. However, we can make a humble start somewhere eg. at the levels of the existing RAs, RTs and JKKKs. We can make use of what we have first, and then we can build something greater by maximizing all their human potentials and fully utilizing all their resources. Everyone of us is blessed with God given talents no matter how little. If we can tap them and pool them together, then Penang will shine above all.

I remember learning this poem as a child :

Little drops of water

Little grains of sand

Make the mighty ocean

And the beauteous land

Little deeds of kindness,

Little words of love,

Make our earth an Eden,

Like the heaven above

And the little moments,

Humble though they be,

Make the mighty ages.

Of eternity.

Mrs. J. A. Carney (1845)

We should always encourage small beginnings, so maybe we, as a Residents’ Association, can also start small and play our role in state unity by working closely with our ADUNs, MPs and State Government.

God bless you for all you have done for the people of Penang. May God grant all of you great wisdom and favour as you lead Penang into a bright future.

Yours sincerely,

Molly S.C.Ooi
