Hankering for Penang

68 year old Penang-Born Singaporean author, Joan Hon, will be in Penang to talk about her

fiction and non-fiction books on 12 October, 2.30pm at 56, Lorong Selamat (Telephone: +604 229 7678 )

She wrote a sci-fi romance “Star Sapphire” which won a High Commendation Award from the Book Development Council

of Singapore in 1986, the same year she was awarded a Commendation prize for her book “Relatively Speaking” on her father

( Penangnite – Mr Hon Sui Sen, Singapore’s Finance Minister), her family, the Japanese Invasion and childhood memories in Penang.

She will be sharing her experiences and her journey as an author from writing to publishing.

Besides writing books, multi-talented Ms Hon also taught Physics to Junior College students and mentored

Olympiad students in one of Singapore’s top Junior Colleges.

The highlight of this talk is to share the know-hows of “Print-on-Demand”.

How we can write the book first, collect the money second, print the book third

and finally deliver it to the customer. This method eliminates warehousing cost etc…
